Biography

With her remarkable and unique voice, Rebeca van Koert is capable of transporting audiences into her world of classical music.
Rebeca has performed the great dramatic repertoire in concerts throughout Europe, where she has been praised for her mature and developed vocal abilities.

In recent years, Rebeca has participated in numerous masterclasses all across Europe. In these masterclasses, she has worked with prof. Cheryl Studer, Frank van Aken, Gidon Saks and Wiebke Goëtjes on operatic repertoire. With Maarten Koningsberger and Jard van Nes she has worked on ‘lied’ repertoire. Furthermore, she has worked with Eva-Maria Westbroek on the role of Sieglinde (Die Walküre, R. Wagner).

Rebeca made her operatic debut as Gertrud in the opera Hänsel und Gretel by Humperdinck. She did this in a Dutch adaptation for children on the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam in collaboration with the Hojotoho Opera Studio run by Wiebke Goëtjes.
In productions of HKU Utrechts Conservatorium Rebeca has performed the roles of La Badessa (Suor Angelica, G. Puccini) and Phani (Les Indes Galantes, J.P. Rameau).

Rebeca started her voice lessons with Bulgarian soprano Dobrinka Yankova. Consequently, she studied at HKU Utrechts Conservatorium, where she finished her Bachelor of Music – Classical Voice studies, with honours.

In 2019 Rebeca finished her master of opera studies at the Conservatory of Maastricht.
During her study she worked with the German dramatic soprano Susanne Schimmack as her main subject teacher.
In the second year of her studies, she participated in an Erasmus+ exchange program via the European Opera Academy.
She studied one semester at the prestigious The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.
Here she received vocal coaching from Suzanne Murphy, opera coaching from Michael Pollock and drama coaching from Martin Constantine.
